Codex
CODEX ︎
This codex was created to help contextualize the contents of my Capstone project. Intended to be a physical companion to the book Vision of the Future, the Codex elucidates on the conceptual framework, themes, and content that made up my Capstone. It being a piece of design work itself incorporates a mix of academic and irreverant language combining my sense of humour with my interest in post-modern and structuralism thought, two cornerstones of my final project.
The visual language draws heavily on avant-garde typographic techniques and layout design pioneered by David Carson, Elliott Earls, Nick Bell, & VanderLans and the work they produced in publciations such as Emigre, Raygun, and Transworld Skateboarding. Additional influence is taken from the diagrams of thinkers such as Deleuze and Guattari, Bataille, Althusser, Virilio & Agamben as well incoporating drawings from architects and their critics such as Le Corbusier, Aldo Rossi, Rem Koolhaas, and Hans Ibelings. The resulting synthesis is a short booklet that explains the primary research themes I explored from 2022-2023 as well as providing an oppurtunity in which to push my personal design typology in a new direction.
